Severe vertigo again - no work, no exercise this week

Last Saturday morning I was attacked by a dreadful vertigo once again. I woke up with a sharp stomach cramp, so I went to a bathroom. Then my entire body started heating up, got very hot and sweated all over. Next, my arms got numb. And then my surrounding view started spinning. It quickly got really bad, just like 14 months ago, only better this time I was not driving on a freeway. The spin got faster and intense, and I started vomiting. I couldn’t stand or walk, as the spinning sensation was as if smashing my head onto the wall or floor. At first the view was spinning clockwise in front of me, and then started spinning horizontally around me clockwise, the view in front of me moving from left to right. This is the first time the spin was clockwise, or from left to right; all my previous vertigos spinned opposite directions. My husband saw nystagmus in my eyes as seen before. He took me to an ER, put me on a wheelchair that didn’t have a foot support, thus dragging my feet, but I was too sick to care about it. The waiting time was a lot better than the last time at another hospital. I vaguely remember I kept vomiting while on a wheelchair, then someone transferred me to a bed somehow and started injecting IV. I don’t remember anything thereafter that happened on Saturday– how I was put back in a car, how I was placed in bed at home. When I woke up on Sunday, the view was still spinning bad, but at least I was no longer vomiting. I slept most of Sunday too thanks to the powerful med. On Monday morning it was still spinning, and again I took med and slept most of the day, only after I emailed to my work that I was going to take off until get better. I do remember I had to retype the email several times because my vision was blur and I couldn’t see what I was typing. After that I don’t remember anything. So, the 3 days and nights passed quickly with almost no memory. I had awful nightmare for 2 nights fighting with daemons. I actually felt the heavy weight and strong assault force while I was asleep and fighting with human-looking daemons in dreams. It was awful. I took the anti-anxiety medicine the ER gave me.

On the 4th day my husband took me to my vertigo/ENT doctor. The exam came out all good, but then the doctor said it was void when I told her I was taking medicine. So I stopped all medication on Tuesday and will have to revisit for re-exam next Tuesday. The doctor suspects a vestibular neuronitis this time– associated with some sort of viral infection. Since I haven’t had a flu or anything, I’m not sure where I could possibly got any virus. The shingles is still torturing my low back, and I’m not sure if the zoster virus could possibly climb up the nerve to inner ear… I think it’s unlikely, because I’ve had shingles since June and there’s no reason why suddenly causes neurotitis now.

My blog shows I had increasing dizziness and light-headedness for a few weeks prior to this vertigo. Were they warning me? One of my challenges is, I listen to my body, but don’t know how to react on it. I can’t keep quitting easily for every single slight discomfort.

Anyway, I’m taking off from work this week, as well as from all exercises. Started staying up during the day for the past couple of days, but my left brain is still woozy, the back of my left head hurts, and vision not focusing. I always resume working and working out too soon too much, so I’m being a little conservative this time.
