Lunch-time walk

Sheep were back in the field, and mustard flowers were growing tall everywhere. Despite I had unusually big breakfast after running this morning, I ran out of stamina in the middle of my walk, got dizzy and excessively sweat. It was a little warm during the day, I might have dehydrated. I’m going to start carrying water next time.

Long time no exercise– Lunch-time walk

It’s been a long time. I wasn’t able to exercise for a while, first due to crazy work hours, then my father’s death and traveling overseas. I’ll write about the travel in my other blog. It’s nice to be back in California. Severely jet-lagged, I couldn’t sleep until 4:30 this morning, then slept for a few hours and went to work. I forced myself to walk during the lunch time. It was cloudy and cool, got some sprinkles at the end. My left ball of foot has been aching badly for the past few days, and I’m attaching the gel pad to my feet to take off some stress.

Lunch-time walk

Cloudy and some very light sprinkles, around 60F and warm. My low back was painful when I started walking. Also my left ball of foot was still slightly painful. My left ankle was still bothering me a bit too. All those pains disappeared on the way… All the pains may really be the products of mind. When my mind shifted to hunger and felt out of stamina, I didn’t feel pain. And they came back after I ate and became no longer hungry. The strange right knee pain I felt yesterday evening and night was no longer felt at all today.

Lunch-time walk

I skipped exercises all day yesterday and this morning. Partly because of the bad sciatic pain and partly because my work kept me busy for longer hours.

On the 2nd day at work this year, it’s a grateful thing to be busy with work. Today there was a layoff, some let go immediately, and others got one-month notice. It was a strange time of the day. Mid afternoon a mysterious email came from the VP I never heard of, and then the manager started calling one person at a time. I wasn’t called by the time I left, but am not sure whether those who weren’t contacted today are going to be called tomorrow. I’m grateful I had work today. Tomorrow is a future and I’m not going to worry about it yet.

Having a terribly achy sciatic pain is not a grateful thing at all. It’s been over a half months since my left SI joint and low back flared up with pain again. It’s been increasingly painful. Also for about the same time period, the nerve pain has returned with bad numb & tingle from my left hip to hamstring all the way down to my left foot. It’s been very challenging to walk or run as my left leg has a great difficulty lifting. These symptoms are nothing new to me, so I’m not scared, but they’ve been bothering me so much and affecting my life at work, workout, and even during the night sleep. The symptoms seem to have a random cycle of coming and going.

Skipping exercises didn’t make my pain any less, so I went out for a walk during the lunch time. It was mostly cloudy, but somewhat warm. I had to make an effort to lift my left leg in order to walk, felt tightness and tension in left hamstring.

Treadmill walk while waiting for the pool

When I called the gym yesterday to inquire about today’s schedule, the lady said there was no class today. So I thought I could swim at 9, but it turned out there was the aqua fitness class and all lanes were taken for another hour. I walked on the treadmill to loosen up my legs from cycling and further waiting for the pool to be free.

Afternoon walk — hip to foot numbing

I wanted to exercise this morning but couldn’t, because I wasn’t able to sleep until 3:30 or 4 this morning and couldn’t get up early enough. My left hip to foot was numbing so badly it bothered me all night. It’s been like this for the past several nights. I wished if I could take off today, but reluctantly went to work.

During the day as well, my left hip to foot was numbing no matter I was sitting or standing. I wanted to move and loosen up my joints, so I took time in the afternoon to walk at least. The left lower body felt weak. I felt the pain when I pushed deep in the left butt, and it was numbing and tingling, shooting down to foot, every step I felt it. This symptom came back last week for the first time since June. This is sciatica, the longest river of pain in the body. Back then, it went away when I continued a combination of physical therapy and no running for a couple of months. What do I do now? I don’t want to stop running again.
